Join us at the University of Maryland College Park’s 2026 Black Theatre and Dance Symposium on April 18, a day-long gathering honoring the depth, brilliance, and evolving legacy of Black performance across the diaspora.


Join us at 3:45 p.m. for The Art of Resistance, an interactive workshop!


On Saturday, April 18, artists, scholars, students, and community members will convene at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center for a full day of performances, workshops, panel discussions, and shared communion. This symposium serves as both a celebration and a call to action, affirming Black theatre and dance as essential sites of cultural memory, innovation, and future-making. The theme this year is ABUNDANCE: Celebrating Community and Allyship.
